O is for Observe

To those who know me well, it will come to literally no surprise that my favorite season is Autumn. I have a hard time understanding how people are not obsessed with the leaves changing color each year. Our family is so ridiculously blessed to live in an area that has some of the best foliage in the entire country. Oakland is also home to world-renowned Autumn Glory festival (happening next weekend), where the foliage is front and center in a celebration of all things fall.

Yet, I hear from folks who have lived here for a long time that they could take or leave the Autumn Glory festival. The traffic, extra visitors, etc., is a hassle, a nuisance. I honesty hope I never feel this way—I love that our great small town shares this season with the world, and that some people that grew up here return every year to experience the festivities with their families and friends. It's a great time to make space to slow down and observe the glory all around us.

If you're planning on attending and walking around Autumn Glory Saturday, please stop by and see us at 208 South Second Street. We have a brand new Jitterbug mural that we can't wait for YOU to "observe."
