September 2022: Let's take things one day at a time.

Published: September 1, 2022

It's been an eventful week for us. This past Monday, CurlyRed joined the ranks of property owners in downtown Oakland and purchased the former CMCI building at 208 South Second Street St, Oakland, MD 21550. The location is just behind Englander's and right across the street from the town parking lot, in the heart of downtown Oakland (an Arts & Entertainment district).

In the few days we've been in our new space, we've made quite a lot of progress. But every time I cross one item off of the to-do list, 10 more pop into my head. As a general rule, I tend to be hard on myself—and I also tend to set unrealistic timelines for how long something should take, etc. Then I find myself overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next—not a great position to be in.

So I'm using this post a reminder to myself to take this transition one day at a time, try to enjoy the process, and to give myself a BREAK every one in a while. As many of you are transitioning into new schedules this month with school, sports, work or other commitments, I remind you to do the same. Have grace with yourself and make sure to carve out time to rest and take care of yourself.

Monthly words to remember:

“No matter how difficult your situation is, you can get through it if you don’t look too far into the future, and focus on the present moment. You can get through anything one day at a time.” Bob Parsons
