Upcoming Events: Kick-Off, Pride and Women's Luncheon!
Happy June! There are so many great events happening in Garrett County. Here are a few that we're particularly excited about:
1. Oakland's Kick Off to Summer • This Saturday, June 8th, 2024
The Town of Oakland, Arts & Entertainment District, and Greater Oakland Business Association are celebrating the beginning of summer on Saturday, June 8th, with Kick Off to Summer in downtown Oakland! The event goes from 11am till 4pm and activities include a cornhole tournament, a Beer Walk, lemonade walk, food vendors, truck show, live music and performances, store specials, kid’s activities, a pie eating contest, and a rubber duck race.
Join us on Alder Street, 2nd Street, Green Street, and Bankers Alley for a free, family friendly event to celebrate summer!
2. Garrett County Pride Festival • Saturday, June 15th, 2024
Join us for 🌈Garrett County’s 1st ever Pride Festival!!🌈 RSVP here.
Event Schedule:
9-10am: Pride Ride bike ride - leisurely loop around beautiful Oakland!
12-4pm: Pride Festival @ Leo Martin Memorial Park in Mountain Lake Park - entertainment, music, food & refreshments, info booths, vendors, kids’ area, Splash Pad & more!
6-9pm: After Party on Alder St. Downtown Oakland (closed off section) - DJ & street performances!
3. Women's Networking Luncheon • Thursday, June 20th, 2024
Networking + Lunch • $17 includes lunch buffet, beverage, and gratuity
This event will feature a presentation from the women behind AAUW-Garrett Branch. They are the lead organizers of the End-of-the-Line Boxcar Bookstore at the Train Station in Oakland, MD. The Bookstore opened in 2014 with the goal of reselling used books at steep discounts. The proceeds support AAUW-Garrett Branch Scholarship Fund and GEMS Girls Empowerment Middle School Project and also our ally Girl Scout Troop 55004 of Oakland.
