What is a Creative Retainer and Do You Need One?

Published: August 18, 2021

“Oh, I didn't realize you did that, too!”

Often, our company is hired for a particular marketing or design project, such as creating a fully custom and responsive website. And then a different need will arise, such as business cards or trade show signage.

While it's easy to add items on to a project we're already doing, sometimes I'll suggest we stop the process, pull back for a moment and evaluate what additional marketing or design needs that client made have. Depending on the results of that conversation, we'll recommend resuming the project or looking at a Creative Retainer.

If you are a small business owner, or run a small-to-medium sized non-profit, chances are that you don't have a creative department in-house. Perhaps you have a marketing manager, or an employee who has historically tackled your marketing or design needs. But maybe you're reading this and wondering if a Creative Retainer could be right for you.

Here's a few questions to consider:

• Are your design needs numerous and varied?

• Do you have design or marketing items that need to be revisited on a monthly basis (example: a monthly ad in a local publication)?

• Do your marketing and creative endeavors need to be directed by a professional?

• Would you prefer to have one less thing on your plate?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, look no further. We can establish a partnership with you for whatever you need, from branding and print design to website upkeep and content creation. Contact us today to learn more.
